All papers will have exactly five paragraphs, will be no more than one single-space page, and each will comprise three parts as follows:
Introduction (one paragraph): state as clearly as possible the theme that you want to develop, with a brief outline of the key points you’d like to convey,
Middle (three paragraphs): develop the theme with specific points and analysis, using data where feasible, and
Conclusion (one paragraph): close the paper by reiterating the main theme and the key take-away points for the reader.
I will grade the paper on five criteria: 1) organization as above, 2) smooth flow of ideas such that the paper feels integrated and seamless rather than disjointed amalgamation of thoughts, 3) clear writing to describe of the issues under consideration, 4) personal insights beyond simple description, and 5) critique of the issues presented in the articles on which the paper is based.
